Job Description


We are looking to recruit an  ICT Technician apprentice, supporting our educational organisations throughout Coventry. The successful candidate will be based onsite, supporting our clients with their ICT needs. 

This role will be varied and will cover a wide range of ICT support that will help expand their skills and knowledge in the following areas: installation of hardware and software, procurement of various solutions, and providing technical support to teachers, pupils, and other stakeholders. 

This role heavily involves being customer facing, you will be required to take the initiative and assist customers at any moment while on site. The ideal candidate will also need to be comfortable talking to various kinds of people and not shy away from social situations and be approachable at all times.

Successful candidate will develop the following through the apprenticeship course


  • approaches to back up and storage solutions
  • Elements of technical documentation and its interpretation
  • principles or root cause problem solving and using fault diagnostics for troubleshooting
  • principles of basic network addressing for example binary
  • fundamental principles of virtual networks (Vlans) and components
  • principles of cultural awareness and how diversity impacts on delivery of support tasks
  • methods of communication including level of technical terminology to use to technical and non-technical stakeholders


  • Interpret and prioritise internal or external customer’s requirements in line with organisation’s policy
  • Apply the appropriate tools and techniques to undertake fault finding and rectification
  • apply Continuous Professional Development support necessary business output and technical developments
  • operate safely and securely across platforms and responsibilities maintaining the security of personal data of internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate with all levels of stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and managing escalation where appropriate
  • develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and other relevant stakeholders


£4.81 per hour

Hours of work

30 hours per week

Monday 8:00 – 4:30

Wednesday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30

Main duties

  • To ensure all computers, laptops and any other ICT hardware are working to their full capacity.
  • To provide front line technical support to all staff and children for computer related problems. 
  • To provide advice and support on any, with the support from your manager.
  • To maintain all aspects of the network alongside ICT support. 
  • To manage iPad devices and deploy Apps. 
  • To manage and monitor safeguarding alerts. 
  • To manage Office 365 and Google Workspace environments. 
  • To manage computer policies; ensuring the School’s acceptable use policy is enforced. 
  • To ensure computers are complete with the school’s software system. 
  • To ensure all ICT computer hardware is kept up to date. 
  • To support the ethos of the School. 
  • To fulfil and undertake any further ICT duties which may be required.
